Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

High Cholesterol at TGI Friday

Fat and calorie count are normally high at American diners and TGI Friday is no exception in that case. "There's an old saying in Tennessee... I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, 'Fool me once, shame on ... shame on you. Fool me... You can't get fooled again!'" - W. You guys. I know better. Truly, I do. In fact, I even wrote a tip here a while back that said, and I quote: "Every couple of years, I come here and end up leaving saying that it would be the last time I set foot in the place. Then a few years go by and someone convinces me to give it another shot. Rinse and repeat. This place is abysmal. We were held captive for two and a half hours on a Monday. Horrible service, mediocre food, and an obnoxiously-flickering light that actually made me nauseous. I mean it this time: NEVER. AGAIN. How they stay in business is beyond me." And yet. I return, only to (once again!) be reminded that it's a bad idea. I used to come to this TGI Friday's ALL THE TIME when I was in middle and high school down the street. After every play and musical (drama nerd over here), we would hold our after-parties at the restaurant, amidst kitsch on the walls and "flair" on the waiters' suspenders a la Office Space. The food was consistent enough, the service quick (had to be, considering how busy it always was), and the location convenient. Oh, the good old days. Suddenly, those good old days are gone. On this most recent dining experience, my mom and I came in around 11 pm after attending a concert in Fort Lauderdale. Considering the sheer lack of dining options available after 11 pm in this area, we opted to come here for a bite to eat. A good portion of the restaurant was empty, so imagine our surprise when the most disinterested-looking hostess ever tells us the wait will be about 10-15 minutes. Um... really? Look, I know you don't want to overwhelm waiters with too many tables. But staring at the interior of a restaurant that is quite sparsely-populated and being told there's a wait is a bit ridiculous. Once seated, we peruse the menu and are greeted by our waitress, whom I recognized as the same person who unwittingly inspired my Yelp tip above. Nice girl, but clearly way in over her head. Waitressing duties are just not her calling. That's okay, it wouldn't be mine either... but man, this poor thing just isn't cut out for the job, even in a mostly-dead restaurant on a Saturday night. Trying to get a refill of water proved fruitless. Anyway, the food... eh. It's Friday's. You know what you're getting yourself into, mostly. What I didn't expect from the order of potato skins was cold, congealed blobs of "cheese" (I say this with quotes because there's no way that was anything natural) atop the skins. Like, I pressed down onto it and was met with chilly resistance. They didn't even look remotely melted. How they made it out of the kitchen without SOMEONE thinking, "hey wait, did we actually cook these?", I will never know. And even once properly heated, this "cheese" tasted like it was made in a laboratory, rather than ever, at any point, containing an ingredient that came from a cow's udder. Remember when they used to sprinkle shredded cheese (sans quotation marks) on these? Yeah, I remember that too. Alas, no longer. Interestingly enough, by the time we managed to escape (after trying repeatedly to just pay our bill, which is a little hard to do when your waitress disappears and a manager has never been anywhere in sight), the lobby was jam-packed with helpless people in search of late-night grub. We're talking standing room only kind of wait, while most of the tables in the restaurant stood empty. Those poor souls had a 30 minute or longer wait ahead of them for what I'm sure was a meal that wasn't worthwhile. You know, I'm not against TGI Friday's as a chain, even though I feel the food regardless is just ehhhh. It's this location. I guess writing that little tip didn't make the advice stick in my own brain well enough. Hopefully writing this review will do the trick. Never. Again.

You go to Friday's, you don't expect five star service or gourmet food. But this place is a little ridiculous. The service is extremely slow and leaves a lot to be desired in terms of courtesy. When the food did arrive - a simple little lunch combo - after 40 minutes, it was cold, no plating or presentation and the fries were stale. Everyone in the area was complaining about the service. I strongly suggest going to another one of the many restaurants in the area.

Worst service at the bar tables but made it up with the strong drinks. We came for the endless apps which took 40 min each to come out... Dirty tables next to us didn't get bussed for almost an hour until a new customer had to ask a bartender to clear it off... Bartender yelled from behind the bar to take our next order instead of walking back to our table. The only thing fast about this experience was getting the bill

Friendly server but that's the only positive thing I can say abiut this location. Hostess made us wait 10 mins to sit in an empty section at 9:30PM because a server called in sick. Food took 45 mins (two salads). Dark and creepy atmosphere... Go elsewhere!

I came in late one Friday night. No hostess to be found. Place just seemed to be moving slowly. Several servers walked by. Nobody acknowledged us. I was starving. Floor was dirty. Staff were not warm or greeting us. Took it as too many signs and left to Smokey Bones.

  • Rich S.

The food here is ok, but really the best reason to go is to hang with friends, beer and appetizers. The service is not very consistent with long wait times to find a seat or food to arrive. If you're going to enjoy a meal don't go during the busy time or you will be disappointed.

  • Kathleen E.

Worst Fridays ever. After we got seated it took almost 30mins for a server. We had to order our food with the hostess and she winded up serving our drinks. Then we moved to a different table and we are still waiting for our food. They are very under staffed here for a crowded Sunday afternoon.

Waited over 20 minutes for server to finally come by, so I left and wont return ever. Sticking to the restaurants in my neighborhood of Lauderdale by the Sea. Place was not busy. I guess that says it all. Thursday evening was here from 7 pm to 7:25. Do yourself a favor and go to either Outback across the street, or Bonefish Grill next door.

Yup -chain restaurant review. I rarely give 1 star reviews. Honest to Ch. rist, you want a better meal? Go to Denny's for literally 40% cheaper and better food. The nachos......the nachos- try burnt, canned "chili" on top of about 8 "nacho" chips - with some fix in's on the side. The jalapenos looked like they were cut by a visually impaired, vertically challenged person - as some were literally 1 inch thick......$12. The Reuben.....the Reuben. Toasted, yes toasted............in a 'effin toaster, "rye" bread. Slopped together with maybe 2 slices of processed corned beef and some Kraft "Swiss". It was literally the most pathetic "reuben" i have ever seen. Yes, I take this sh. it seriously, especially at $14 at a chain restaurant. The "crispy chicken fingers". Frozen product, burnt, small. $12. God help the staff, they were great - consider employment elsewhere.

Disappointing late night grub. Friendly waiter who seemed like he was trying his best, but our orders took way...too...long...to get to us. I am almost certain that a 5 year old was back there in the kitchen making us our meals, guided by a blindfolded monkey, given the elementary preparation. Do not order the nachos - you can tell they were frozen. If you think nachos are individually wrapped chips with cheese and fixings then think again. The reuben sandwich was not a true reuben - the meat was not authentic - it was probably donated by the school cafeteria. And the chicken tenders were also ridiculously overpriced for the 4 frozen pieces it came with - you are better off going to McDonald's because it's honestly better there, and cheaper. Avoid this place like the plague. Oh if I can only gain back that 2 hours wasted.

We came here for the 12 dollar Apps special ... it took 45 minutes to bring the Apps to the table not only they were cold and dried out it looked like they were microwaved about 42 minutes ago... if I wanted microwave food I could have stopped to 7-11 and got a burrito. What's this new trend I am seeing? this is the second restaurant in a row that I been to that serves you your food but doesn't give you a napkin or silverware. Have we come to a point that we are suppose to eat with our bare hands and wipe on our shirts ? the server had over a half an hour to make sure we had a fork and knife before our food was brought to the table. This my last attempt to eat at this location I don't know how they stay in business.

Those old enough to remember when TGI Fridays was great will be saddened by what it has become. You can still get a decent meal and some of the apps are good (The Tostado Nachos, Potstickers, etc). But it isn't the happy hour, cool hangout that it once was. #Sigh

Stood at the hostess stand for 4-6 mins without anyone greeting us or the other 2 groups.. Place was not busy at all.. One server walked right past us with no acknowledgement..we decided to eat elsewhere. This was not the first time we have experienced a lack of customer service at this location.. Maybe a refresher course would help...

has to be the worst restaurant I've been to in my life. deserves minus 3 stars. I've given this place 3 times & it just gets worse. 2 waiters are the most sloppy people you ever could imagine. one guy looked like he was still working on his motorcycle between customers. The other guys dirty & wrinkled jeans were way too long for him. The music was horrible plus the speakers were off balance. We ordered potato skins for a appetizer, they looked & tasted as they were reheated before. My friend had a coke, I wanted a cocktail, but was told there was no special for cocktails, even though we were in the middle of cocktail hour. We ea had a Rib Eye steak was just ok, period. This is a perfect example of a corporate run restaurant. Disgusting to say the least

Wow, I've never had so much fun at Friday's. Our server, Jose, (Floridian by way of Texas and Indiana) was great. He kept the appetizers coming all night, and jumped right in with the jokes and conversation our party of 6 shared. He even talked me into ordering a smoothie (yummy triple berry, BTW) and shared appetizer, although neither hubby nor I were hungry. We ordered just because Jose thought we should. This guy is so cool. 5 stars for the customer service. Sit in his section, and have a great night, too. Tip him well; he deserves it.

I go here weekly for The inexpensive happy hours and quick food. A 23 year regular. The bartenders and servers are all very nice particularly Nichole and Alex. The inside and outside are all remodeled and is in much better shape than in the past.. Give it 4 stars because if it was not good to be at I wouldn't go :D

Let me start by saying I know this is a TGIFridays and I don't have much of an expectation. This was really bad. I ordered the nachos for an appetizer. When they came out we noticed they didn't have ANY ground beef. Our (very nice) waiter sent the manager over who said that it was just so little and so ground up that it was just how it came. (Not an okay response). Then, of the three entrees we ordered, they didn't have any of them. They waited 40 minutes to let me know they didn't have one of the plates. Needless to say we cancelled our entrees. Then we got the bill for the terrible nachos we didn't even finish or wanted. Don't go here. Even if you like Friday's , this is bad.

Just had the best service ever at tgi Friday's. Our waitress Geraldine Pierre was the greatest, she was super friendly and catered to all our needs quickly and efficiently. She had to best attitude. I will be back at Fridays only because of her.

Our server is excellent!! The food ... not so much. And what makes it so bad is that this is the closest Fridays to me. Guess I'll just have to take the extra drive for better food .won't be coming back any time soon.

Stopped for a quick bite before leaving Florida. Sat at the bar. Initial service was quick, but then, it went downhill fast. There was good entertainment - fight/argument. There was a table of 20-somethings in the bar. They were having obvious trouble with their order and server. From the sounds of it, they were made to wait a very long time for their food and then billed food that they didn't order. They were arguing with the waitress and then the "manager". They got nowhere.....left very angry. Lots of drama. Add tot that, a young couple, maybe 21, looking for dessert. The young man could't get the waitresses attention so he walked to the bar and ordered it from the bartender, which annoyed her (I heard the remarks when he walked away, and thought WOW!). I order my burger and a beer. The wait was long. Like a half-hour long. Keep in mind the kid waiting for his dessert has walked back to the bar asked where the dessert is to no avail...they said they would check for him. (Don't hold your breath kid...). Now the staff and manager have gathered to badmouth the table of 20-somethings that had the bad experience. I was horrified. My burger comes and it was not at all what I ordered. I don't dare complain or send it back based upon what I'm hearing the staff say about the poor kid waiting for dessert (I got a cooked hamburger before he got a carmel salt dessert), and the other table of 20-somethings. The bartender asked if everything was OK and I just said yes....it's fine. I did not eat the burger....only a couple of fries and a beer. Now I'm trying to get out of this place and I can't get anyone to run my credit card. They walk right by me at least 6-times. Not able to wait any longer, I took my credit card, and left the $4 in cash I had in my wallet. They were so busy badmouthing the other customers they didn't even notice me slowly saunter out of the place. I wrote to corporate but I fear this place is too far gone...start over....

So I just landed from Germany tired from flying all day but still excited to see family and friends we ended up at tgif because everything else was closed grill/kitchen wise. We sat at the bar on our own since Noone was really there to greet us and show us to our seating request. Still was a good amount of people here in attendance. We asked one of the waiters if the kitchen was still open he replied "yes" and kept walking downstairs to the back. We ended up waiting another 5 minutes before the other on point (happily gay) waiter helped us. Thank god. He took our orders he made us laugh and almost made up for the other waiters lack of customer service skills. The drinks were potent. Hennessy and sprite was $9.19 but of course you have cheaper drinks and the Flatbread pizza was on special for half off. Other than the intro it was a decent night here.

If you enjoy the TGIFriday's franchise don't choose this one! You'll start off by being greeted by young hostesses that have absolutely no clue what they're doing. They'll tell you there's a wait when you notice multiple tables open and I'm not exaggerating when I say multiple tables. I asked if I could sit at the 2 top tables in the bar area which I counted 4 of them open to be given the longest explanation of "we don't sit people at those tables because no one likes them and we only sit people there when it's Valentine's or Easter"...are you f'ing serious I thought to myself, but I just mumbled "wow" as I walked away to sit down to wait. Then you think the worst is over when you finally sit down and wait to be served. Oh no the monstrosity continues with this place. You'll first notice that the server forgot your silverware, but the server at least brings your drinks in a timely manner which is nice. After that you order and think everything will be okay...nope, the server will forget to refill your drinks twice, but stops by your table to remove the straw wrappers...#tragic. After ordering the server stops by to tell you they're out of the mozzarella and tomato salad, but offers another type of salad..wtf?! You finally leave and notice multiple yes multiple tables open and some dirty with a FULL lobby of guests waiting! So again if you're thinking of stopping by a TGIFriday's please keep on driving to the next one or better yet, stop by the McDonald's next door. #TheEnd

We live right across the street, and probably will not be back. We were a party of 3 and numerous tables were empty and were set for guests, but we still waited about 10-15 minutes to be sat. Our host and server were kind, but didn't seem trained very well. The food was not the best: the boneless wings were dry and overcooked and the potato skins were horrendous. My friends ordered the Parmesan Chicken and while the Mac & Cheese side was pretty good, the size of the chicken was very small and it was dried out and overcooked. The mozzarella sticks were the best part of the entire meal.

OK, so it's a chain and I avoid chains, usually, but this is one of the better ones in the chain. It's clean, well managed and offers a good indoor as well as outdoor seating and, being located at the far south end of a strip mall, plenty of places to park safely so that you don't have to experience cramped areas where others are inclined to open their car doors into the side of yours leaving you with those nasty little dings, dents or chips. For food, though I generally prefer seafood, I stay away from it because as with all chains they love to over cook it, so I generally go for their meats, particularly their "flat iron" cuts of steak which, unlike other TGI Friday's seem to be able to prepare (medium rare to the rare side) exactly the way I order them. Also, for meats they have some interesting topping sauces such as their bourbon.

A simple football Sunday afternoon here resulted in my wife and I covered in bloody mary mix to the point where a shower was needed afterwards. So...wife and I went here to have some drinks, snacks and watch the opening Sunday of regular season NFL. We live right across the street and this location just got directv Sunday Ticket and word hadn't gotten out so it was great for seating. We sat at the bar and Nichole served us. Everything was going well until the bartender, Nichole, dropped a full bottle of bloody mary mix which essentially exploded all over the bar. And my wife. And me. And all over my phone which I had just placed on the bar. It happens. I didn't panic. I wasn't mad....at first. Nichole apologized, I accepted. It happens. Spilt milk and all that. But....normally, if you spill concentrated, super sticky red sludge on someone you hurry and assist them in the clean up. While I did get a couple napkins thrown in my direction and a dirty wet bar rag slopped in front of me, I did notice no one was moving very fast. Then she told me about the last guy she sprayed down a few nights ago. Apparently he was not as accepting as I was so she gave him free beers to ease his suffering. She said this several times but it was not a hint. I wasn't looking for anything free BUT if you aren't going to give me anything for free because you hosed my wife and I down don't say that the last guy who was a jerk about it got free beer because he was a jerk. Me being cool about it got me nothing. Lesson learned. No good deed goes unpunished. If I ever were to go here again, the slightest infraction in service is going to result in a world class bitch-fit. I had to ask for the check twice, make sure my phone was not damaged and after getting the check, couldn't get it paid by card because Nichole was busy chatting up an octogenarian on the other side of the bar. I guess she figured that she'd blown her tip so she cut her losses and ignored my wife and I after the incident. She still got a 10% tip from me. Service was fine up until her disaster it was the aftercare that was terrible. Shame I won't be back, the TV placement is nice and the food is decent but in a service industry it fell short in staffing, cleanliness and attentiveness.

I dont know what is going on at this particular TGI Friday's location. I am a fan of TGI Fridays as I used to hostess at one in my college years and know the food and drinks taste great. So, I normally frequent TGI Friday's and have good experiences. That being said, when I visited this particular TGI Fridays a few days ago for dinner, I was provided with the worst service ever. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar. We were ignored when we sat down and it took a long while to be greeted. The bar was dirty when we sat down and was never wiped clean. I managed to find my own menu from an empty spot at the bar as we weren't greeted and given one when we initially sat down. The two male bartenders behind the bar were chatting it up with one another so casually, I dont think they realized they were even at work. They acted as if they were in their own kitchen at home. We ordered drinks and they came shortly after but not after watching one of the the bartenders carelessly making drinks with a lackluster attitude. I heard other individuals at the bar complaining they they didn't receive their drinks or they were given something they didn't order. I considered leaving at this point as I knew it would just get worse. However, we chose to stay as we were really hungry! We informed the other bar tender that we were ready to order. He just stared at us, so we proceed to shout out our order to him. I assume he took our order as I saw him swipe his little white employee card to access the POS system and type something into it and then he walked away. He didn't say ok, or it will be out shortly, nothing. Just walked away. Okkkaaayyyy I thought. So strange. When our orders came out, my order was wrong. I wasn't surprised. My boyfriend was dying for another beer. He even asked the bar tender twice and was ignored. It's so aggravating to me when I am paying for a service and get treated poorly. We ate and got out of there as quick as we could. I wont be coming to this TGI Friday's location ever. Management really needs to wake up.

MUST READ: Today i took my friend to lunch..the food at this location was not great, but what you will hear next is INSANE. I have been a server before, but I cannot believe what happened today. My bill came to roughly $43. I gave the server 2 gift cards that each had $25 on them. In addition I asked him to give me change for a $10 bill. He comes back after only running one card and gives me a bill for roughly $20. I confronted him about it and he stated "I closed out 1 card-did you want both closed?" Well of course I did! Then he reaches for the second $25 gift card which is sitting behind the register. This is very sneaky..first of all if you were given 2 cards YOU RUN BOTH OR GIVE IT BACK TO THE CUSTOMER!! There's more to the story, but this is the gist of it

Food was pretty good. Server was attentive but food was a little slow coming out. We were seated upstairs above the bar, so we were away from the kitchen. This location is comparable to other Fridays we have been to. I would not hesitate to eat here again next time we are here on vacation.

It's a Fridays . . . once again, one of the best Happy Hour specials a chain restaurant offers. Happy Hour runs from 3 to 7, and after 9. Half off appetizers . . . $2 well drinks, $4 mixed drinks (LI's and stuff like that). The drinks were actually pretty good here, was expecting a more watered down outing, but these weren't half bad for a chain restaurant. Food was ok, typical Friday's. Little stuff irked me a bit . . . like the only table at the bar was wobbly and a tad bit sticky, the waiter was real nice and helpful but the service would get extended and he kept sending over this clueless chick and we shared a few "awkward" moments as she was completely lost. Then the manager wouldn't take a coupon because I only bought happy hour stuff and the $12.99 triple meal (which if you haven't looked at is a real good value) . . . what he doesn't know is that I wasn't saving anything because I was adding in that extra 5 for the bartender because I thought the drinks were worth it. Oh well, still this is the closest Friday's to me I believe and I'll be back.

I always say i'm never coming but here I am again, but this time I meant it! TGI Fridays is quite honestly the worst restaurant on the planet. Service takes for ever, the food is overcooked and cold. I will never set foot in there again....

This Fridays has really good food and the happy hour can't be beat. The bartenders are usually very good and get your orders in fast, and keep the drinks coming! I go here at least once a week. Much better then other Fridays I have been too in the area. Been back since this review and things changed for the worse, food takes longer and wasnt as good, intially gave them 4 now back to 2.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
